This Apple Tree Sewing Pattern offers five grow with me sizes: 3-12 months, 12 months-3T, size 3T-6y, size 6-9 and size 9-12y. The sizes are adjustable through the use of snaps on the shoulder straps and back straps. The shorter length dress starts just above the knees and grows to a longer tunic length. The longer length dress starts below the knees and grows up to about knee length. Because of the grow with me sizing, these patterns last up to 3 times longer than traditionally sized clothing.

 This pattern is recommended for an intermediate sewist as it is a bit more challenging than most of our other patterns.

There are 4 files available for download with purchase, the English e-book PDF instructions with a full colour photo tutorial, a layered version of the Apple Tree Summer Dress pattern pieces (designed to be printed on US letter paper with 1/2" margins using Adobe Reader computer program [available as a free download here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/]). There is also a layered A0 sized PDF that can be printed at a copy shop and a projector file that can be used to project the pattern directly onto fabric, for those who are familiar with projector sewing.

------Materials------

Knit fabric with at least 75% horizontal stretch (perpendicular to grainline) and 30% vertical stretch (along grainline). This pattern has a bit of negative ease so it is important that the fabric has good stretch and recovery. I recommend a 95% cotton, 5% spandex jersey knit for the bodice and 95% cotton, 5% spandex jersey knit or French terry for the skirt. Bamboo and other fabrics with lots of drape are not recommended for the bodice (but work great for the skirt)

Fabric requirements based on 58” width.

Size 3-12m: 3/4 yard of outer fabric, 1/4 yard of lining fabric and 6 1/2" of 1/4" elastic

Size 12m-3T: 1yard of outer fabric, 1/2 yard of lining fabric and 7 1/2" of 1/4" elastic

Size 3T-6y: 1 1/4 yard of outer fabric, 1/2 yard of lining fabric and 8 1/2" of 1/4" elastic

Size 6 - 9y: 1 1/4 yard of outer fabric, 1/2 yard of lining fabric and 9 1/2" of 1/4" elastic

Size 9-12y: 1 3/4 yard of outer fabric, 1/2 yard of lining fabric and 10" of 1/4" elastic

Other Materials:

• 8-10 complete snap sets (16 caps, 8-10 studs, 8-10 sockets) & snap assembly supplies (8 complete sets for sizes 3-12m, 12m-3T and 9-12y, an additional 2 studs for sizes 3-6y and 6-9y and an additional two caps and sockets if adding the optional snaps*)
• 9” x 9” scrap of woven or twill fabric or medium/heavy interfacing for snap reinforcement
• Coordinating thread
• Ballpoint needles and pins or clips
• Sewing machine or serger (you will need a sewing machine for top stitching)
• Chalk or water soluble marker
• Fabric scissors or rotary cutter & mat
• Iron & ironing board
